Self Help Wisdom HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS
Ancient Wisdom - a teaching story

One day a traveler came across a long wooden wall and noticed a number of targets of concentric circles painted all along it.

Each target had an arrow embedded exactly in the centre.

All arrows had hit the Bull's Eye.

“Amazing...this is truly amazing...!” he said to himself, “What fantastic accuracy...I have never seen such an accurate archer in my life... I must go and meet him.”

He found the archer sitting nearby with his bow and quiver full of arrows beside him.

“How do you manage to shoot the arrow so accurately right in the centre of the bull’s-eye every time...?” the curious traveler asked the archer.

“It is very easy,” said the archer coolly, “I take the precaution of shooting the arrow first, and then painting the target around it afterwards...!”

A nice philosophy on how to achieve your goals, isn’t it...?

Dear Reader, why don’t you apply this wonderful philosophy in your own life and hit the “bulls-eye” every time...!

Some would call this cheating. Others might call it adapting to circumstances.

I'll have to tell my wife this story. She has recently gotten into archery. She doesn't shoot at targets, however. Instead, she put a coin on a hay stack and tries to come close to it.

hello sir,
indeed a great approach towards success. however, what i feel personally, this may not be very applicable in real-life situations. Unless the archer is a entrepreneur or a venture-investor or the like, he has to be target oriented, specifically the target set by the institution, family or peers. for both, a student or an employee, the world scenario (read "competitive exam" and "market value" respectively) dictates the target. hardly does anyone in real life get the opportunity to build a target of their own. Maybe, changing the way the arrow is fired makes the difference.

@ Siddhartha
That's the point...don't be target oriented...or goal oriented...orient your goals around you...!!!
