DO YOU WANT INNER PEACE

DO YOU WANT INNER PEACE
A Mulla Nasrudin Story
By
VIKRAM KARVE

Mulla Nasrudin’s wife bought some delicious Halwa from the sweet-shop.

After dinner his wife served him a small portion of the halwa and kept the rest of the halwa in the kitchen.

Later they went to bed, but Mulla Nasrudin was unable to sleep and tossed and turned in his bed.

“What is the matter,” his wife asked him, her sleep disturbed by Nasrudin’s tossing and turning in bed.

“The halwa,” Nasrudin said, “there is so much halwa left, more than half is remaining.”

“Don’t worry,” his wife said, “the halwa is safe in the kitchen. I have put it in an airtight box and besides this halwa lasts long and remains fresh and tasty at least a week.”

Nasrudin tried to sleep but kept thinking of the halwa and said to his wife, “I should have finished off the halwa tonight itself…”.

“Never mind, you can have the halwa tomorrow,” his wife said.

After more some time of tossing and turning on his bed, Mulla Nasrudin suddenly jumped out of the bed and ran to the kitchen. He ate the whole halwa, and greedily polished off the entire box of halwa down to the last morsel.

Then he went back to bed. After relishing the halwa to his heart's content Mulla Nasrudin was so happily and fully satiated that he fell fast asleep and started snoring.

Now his wife could not sleep so she woke him up and said angrily, “What sort of crude behaviour is this? Why this gluttony? You could have had the halwa tomorrow morning. The halwa was not going to run away. The halwa was all yours, safe in the kitchen. ”

“No, my dear wife,” Mulla Nasrudin said, “the halwa was in my head and the correct resting place for halwa is not in the head but in the stomach were it belongs.”

Moral of this story

If you want inner peace, it is better to fulfill a desire than let the desire perambulate in your mind unfulfilled

So true...It has happened so many times with me that my mother prepared some delicious recipe and kept the leftover for the next day but I just cannot keep my mind off it being a complete foodie..
