“The 4 Div Commander Major General Pathania abandoned Dirang Dzong in the morning of 18 November. No plan for the withdrawal was given out - in fact, everyone else, including the forward Brigade Commander defending Se La, were not aware that their General had fled from the battlefield and Dirang Dzong was being evacuated since everyone including the local Dirang Dzong Brigade Commander and Divisional Staff Officers were all running away...it was a total rout thereafter as the demoralized and leaderless troops split up into small parties and retreated in utter confusion...as far as the 1962 War is concerned,the curtain came down just before midnight on 20 November when the Chinese announced a unilateral cease-fire, effective from the midnight of 21/22 November”
