Musings on CV RESUME and ONLINE PROFILE
When you want a job you write out a resume and CV.
But I think, with the proliferation of internet and social networking, relying only on Resume or CV are a thing of the past, as far as recruiters are concerned. Because today everyone has an Online Profile.
Today you can “Google” the candidate’s name, find out details about the individual from social networks, Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other professional sites like Linkedin etc and cross-check with the CV or resume. A time will come when your ONLINE PROFILE will replace the need for a CV or Resume.
So it makes sense to build up and manage your Online Profile judiciously and think before you upload.
And if you are a blogger, then why bother writing a CV or resume, for your blog is your best resume.
Your blog showcases your abilities, your talent, your views, your values, and most importantly, your communication skills, whereas a CV or Resume is a mere laundry list of qualifications and experience and what you want to say about yourself.
So, if I were a recruiter, I would pay more attention to the online profile and read the blog of a prospective candidate to know more about him and try to match the online profile with what has been written in the CV or Resume.
