The “Monster” – Chapter 1

THE “MONSTER” – Chapter 1
Fiction Short Story
By
VIKRAM KARVE

Part 1 – MARRIAGE INTERVIEW

The moment the girl saw her future husband – she started trembling with fear.

He looked ferocious – like a barbarian – a savage brute.

Yes – “Monster” – that is first word that came to the delicate girl’s mind when she saw her future husband.

(So – Dear Reader – in this story – we will refer to him as “Monster”…)

The “Monster” looked at the fragile girl – and he said to the girl’s aunt:

“The girl seems very frightened…”

“No. No. She is okay…” the girl’s aunt said.

“She looks very young…”

“No. No. She is 18. Do you want me to get her birth certificate…?”

“Yes. We will require her birth certificate and other documents for her visa. I hope the girl has a passport…”

“Yes. Yes. It has just come…” the girl’s aunt said. “I assure you – she is not a minor…”

“What I meant was that she doesn’t seem ready for marriage…”

“No. No. She is ready for marriage…”

“But – is she ready to marry me…? I am 33 – I am more than 15 years older than her…”

“Of course she wants to marry you…” the girl’s aunt said.

The “Monster” looked at the delicate girl and he asked her:

“Are you sure that you want to get married to me…?”

The girl’s aunt looked sternly at the girl – and – the girl meekly nodded her head.

And so – a few days later – the delicate 18 year old girl got married to the intimidating 33 year old “Monster”

Part 2 – THE “FIRST NIGHT”

The girl sat on the bedecked bed.

She was still wearing her wedding finery.

The girl looked at the flowers on the bed – “Flowers” for her “Deflowering” ceremony.

Tonight – her husband – the “Monster” – he would “deflower” her.

The girl felt terrified at the thought of what was going to happen to her.

What her uncle had tried to do – her husband would now do – and she could do nothing about it.

When her uncle had tried to rape her – she had fought back – but now – she would have to meekly submit – and surrender her body to her husband’s carnal desires.

The girl heard voices outside the room.

Her husband’s friends wanted to “celebrate” the wedding with a booze party.

She hoped that her husband would get so drunk that he would just “pass out” and go to sleep – unable to “perform” – and her agony would be postponed to another night.

Then – a frightening thought came to her brain – suppose her husband got violently drunk – then he would savage her even more brutally…”

The delicate girl felt terrified as she imagined what was going to happen to her.

Suddenly – she heard her husband’s voice:

“No. I will not drink tonight. You guys enjoy. My wife is waiting for me and I must go to her now…”

The girl saw the door opening.

Her husband – the “Monster” – he entered the bedroom – decorated for the “first-night”.

He looked at his newly-wedded wife – and he said to her:

“I know we couldn’t go on our honeymoon immediately after our marriage – but don’t worry – once we get back to New Zealand – I will take you to Queenstown – and I will show you all the lovely places in the Southern Alps – we will have a long honeymoon…”

Then – the “Monster” started walking towards the girl.

The “Monster” sat on the bed – he looked at the girl’s face – and he said to the girl:

“Are you feeling okay…? You are sweating – and shivering…”

The terrified girl looked at the “Monster” with beseeching eyes.

The “Monster” looked at his newly-wedded wife and he said to her:

“Okay. I understand. You are not ready for me. You don’t worry. I will not force myself on you. I will come to you only when you want me to come to you. You go to sleep. I will sleep on the sofa…”

And so – on their “first night” – the girl slept on the bed – and her husband – the “Monster” – he slept on the sofa.

How to Find a Compatible Husband/Wife – Numerology Approach

HOW TO FIND YOUR PERFECT MATCH – MARRIAGE COMPATIBILITY GUIDE

NUMEROLOGY and COMPATIBILITY
A Spoof
(Just for Fun)
By
VIKRAM KARVE

Most people say that my Wife and Me are the most incompatible couple they have ever met.

Many of our friends and relatives wonder how we have managed to stay married together for more than 35 years.

Even our children are surprised as to how two individuals with such contrasting temperaments can remain together for so long.

The fact that my wife and I have lived together for over 35 years implies that  though outwardly it may not seem so  inwardly  there must be some mysterious hidden compatibility between me and my wife.

Sometimes  you have a fact of life before you that defies rational logic – like  the fact that we remain married for more than 35 years  whereas  logically  a terribly incompatible couple like us should have split-up long back.

My long years as an engineer have taught me that  if you unable to understand a phenomenon that defies logic – you have to work backwards  and you must try to find some reason to substantiate and “validate this incomprehensible fact – and try to justify the inconsistency

I call this reverse logic or ex post facto justification

As I said  we  my Wife and Me  we are a terribly incompatible couple.

Yet – our marriage has lasted for more than 35 years.

Therefore – I had to find some reason for this mystery.

That is why I took solace in numerology.

And  hey presto  I was able to “prove” that we – my wife and I – are indeed “compatible” (at least on paper).

Dear Reader:

Have a look at the Pythagorean Numerology Table below:

Now let us use this Pythagorean Numerological Table.

Let’s calculate the numerological value of my name VIKRAM

(4+9+2+9+1+4 = 29 = 2+9 = 11 = 1+1 = 2

My numerological value is 2

Now  let’s compute the numerological value of my wife’s name POORNIMA

(7+6+6+9+5+9+4+1 = 47 = 4+7 = 11 = 1+1 = 2)

Hey  my wife’s numerological value is also 2

The numerological values of both our names is the same.

My number is 2

My wife’s number is also 2

It is a Perfect Match

No wonder we are such a perfect match – at least from the numerology point of view – so now we can “justify our long married life.

WHAT TO DO ON YOUR FIRST DATE

Are you married..?

Are you planning to get married..?

Are you in love..?

Are you in a relationship..?

Are you dating someone..?

Are you thinking of getting into a relationship with someone...?

Just check out your mutual numerological compatibility

Now you know what to do on your first date now  don’t you...?

Maybe it is a good idea to have some fun.

Check out your numerological compatibility – with your spouse  your dating partner – your friends  your loved ones  your boss  your colleagues  or anyone with whom you are planning a close relationship.

Just use the simple Pythagorean Table above  and compute the numerological value of your names.

NUMEROLOGICAL HARMONY

If you have a perfect match”  it’s great.

But suppose you do not have a perfect match.

No problem.

Do not worry if your numerological values are not identical (perfect match).

You can always hope for harmony in numerological values.

Even if the numerological values are in harmony (one value divisible by the other) – it is a sign of excellent compatibility.

For example  if the husband’s numerological value is 3  and the wife’s value comes out to be a multiple of 3 like 6 or 9 (or vice versa)  then they are in “harmony

So  if you find out that your marriage “rocks”  be happy  tell your spouse and celebrate.

And  if your numerological values just do not match (inharmonious combinations like 2 and 7 or 3 and 8 or 4 and 9) – just don’t worry.

When in doubt  there is no harm in using means to justify the end.

Try out some other numerology system  like Chaldean, Indian, Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, African, even Abracadabra  there are so many numerology tables, charts and calculators available.

Keep trying all permutations and combinations  till you discover your mutual compatibility.

And then  you can “validate your marital compatibility  and be happy.

That is the trick scientists do while doing “research”.

You just keep on trying all permutations and combinations  till you find a “justification” for your hypothesis”.

DISCOVER YOUR MUTUAL COMPATIBILITY

Dear Reader:

You can easily “discover” your “compatibility” with any person you want to by using this simple numerological method.

Use this technique to convince your loved one about how “mutually compatible” you two are.

Maybe  this will enhance your romance.

Try it with your boss and colleagues too.

Maybe  it will improve interpersonal relationships at work.

But here is a caveat:

Please do not use numerology as an excuse to “dump” someone.

Now – that is unethical  and just not done.

And Hey  Dear Reader:

Please do not take this spoof too seriously – I told you right at the beginning that all this is just for fun...!!!

The Marriage of a “Free” Male and a “freemale” – A Queer Love Story

This is a story of a “Free Male and a “freemale” – a rather queer love story of the Marriage of Two Persons Who Did Not Want to Get Married

Dear Reader: Do tell me if you like this story...

THE FREE MALE AND THE FREEMALE
The Marriage of Two Persons Who Did Not Want to Get Married
Fiction Short Story
By
VIKRAM KARVE

He did not believe in “Marriage”

She did not believe in “Marriage”

Yet – they got married.

Why…?

Here is the story of:

The Marriage of Two Persons Who Did Not Want to Get Married

“Good Morning…” he said.

“Hi…” she said.

“Thanks for agreeing to see me in your office…”

“You said it was urgent…”

“Yes. I wanted to talk to you alone before you came to my place in the evening along with your parents…”

“Oh…”

“I came to tell you that – actually – I don’t want to get married…”

“Oh – is there someone else…”

“No….”

“You don’t like me…?”

“No. No. I haven’t even met you before…”

“Then…?”

“I just don’t want to get married…”

“Oh – are you…?”

“No. No. It’s not what you are thinking. I am not ‘gay’ …”

“Sorry – I didn’t mean it that way…”

“It’s okay…”

“Then – what is it…? Why don’t you want to get married….?”

“I am “married” to the Navy…”

“What…? You are “married” to the Navy…? I don’t understand…”

“I mean that I want to focus all my time and energy on my Navy career – and – I do not want any distractions at this critical juncture of my career…”

“So – you feel that marriage will distract you from your work…?”

“Yes. Right now – I am very busy on my ship – and I will be sailing most of the time. Then – I will go for my “long” specialization course. I want to “top” the course – so – during the course I will require to study round-the-clock. Then – I will go on ship again as a “specialist” officer – which is a crucial appointment – and – a stepping stone to sea command…”

“I get it – you will have no time for me – oh – sorry – I mean – you will have no time for your wife…”

“Yes – I don’t want to get married and then neglect my wife – that will be injustice to her. I will be devoting all my time and energy to my Navy career – and – I will have no time for my wife – so – it is better for me not to marry…”

“So you don’t want to marry because you don’t want to neglect your wife…? Or – is it because you feel that a wife will be a hindrance to your career ambitions…?”

“Both…”

“Both…? How can a wife be a hindrance to your career ambitions…? In fact – someone told me that – if you want to achieve high rank in the Defence Services – it is very advantageous to have a “suitable” wife…”

“Not really…”

“Well – my uncle is in the Army – and – he once told me that – one of the reasons he did not become a General was because he was a bachelor…”

“Maybe it is so in the Army – but – it is not so in the Navy – in fact – our present Navy Chief is a bachelor – he never married…”

“Oh. So you want to become an Admiral…? And – you feel that you will have a better chance if you are a bachelor…”

“Yes – being a bachelor will help me concentrate on my career much better…”

“Okay. So your Navy career is the only reason you don’t want to marry…? Suppose you were not in the Navy – would you have got married...?”

“I can’t say  but I really don’t think so. I am an independent sort of person. I like my solitude, my frredom…”

“Oh – so you prefer to be a Free Male – rather than be tied up to a Ball and Chain”...

“Ha Ha – Free Male – you can say that – yes – I prefer to be a Free Male...

“I can understand. But – please tell me – if you don’t want to get married – why did you give a ‘Matrimonial Ad’…?”

“My parents did it – without asking me – I came to know about it yesterday – when I came on home on leave – and – they told me that you would be coming with your parents  to see me this evening…”

“Oh – but – they could have talked to my parents and cancelled the “Girl Seeing” Ceremony…”

“No – my parents said cancelling would look rude – and – it would complicate things – and – cause misunderstandings…”

“So – they asked you to talk to me and cancel the “Girl Seeing” meeting…?”

“No. No. My parents don’t even know that I am meeting you here in your office…”

“Oh – so your parents are pressurizing you to get married – and – you don’t want to get married because you are “married” to the Navy – and – of course – you want to be a Free Male…”

“Yes…”

“So – what do you want me to do…?”

“You come over in the evening – we can go through the “ritual” of the “Girl Seeing” Ceremony – and – later – you can tell your parents that you don’t like me…”

“You want me to tell my parents that I don’t like you…?”

“Yes…”

“Why don’t you tell your parents that you don’t like me…? It is easier for a boy to “reject” a girl  isn’t it...?

“That would be unfair…”

“Unfair…?”

“Yes – it is me who does not want to get married. So – it is not correct for me to hurt you and your parents – by falsely saying that I don’t like you…”

“What do mean by “falsely” saying that you don’t like me…? Are you saying that actually you like me…? Tell me – suppose you wanted to get married – then – do you find me a suitable wife…?”

“It is a big “if” – but – suppose – I wanted to get married – then…”

“Then…?”

“Then – maybe – I would have said “Yes” to you…”

“So – you like me…?”

“Yes…”

“But – we have just met for a few minutes…”

“I can judge a person in the first impression…”

“Really…? So – what do you think – do I like you – or not…?”

“I feel that you don’t like me – at least as a prospective husband…”

“Oh. Do you really think so…?”

“Yes. That is why it will be easier for you tell your parents the truth that you don’t like me – whereas – I will have to lie to my parents that I don’t like you – though – in actual fact – I don’t want to get married at all…”

“Shall I tell you something…?”

“Yes…”

“I like you…”

“Really...? You like me...?”

“I like ambitious career-conscious people – I like persons who value their independence and freedom – and – I liked the way you told me upfront – in an honest and forthright manner…”

“Thanks…”

“Actually – I am very ambitious and career-conscious too…”

“That’s good…”

“That is why I too don’t want to get married…”

“What…?

“Yes. I am just like you. My thoughts are exactly like yours. I too feel that marriage will be a big hindrance to my career ambitions – and – most importantly – I am a “freemale…”

“What...? “Free Male”...? You are a “Male”...?”

“No. No. No. I am very much a female. I said “freemale – it’s one word – not two words like “Free Male”...”

Freemale...? What does it mean...?

“A “freemale is an independent, modern woman who is happier living a fulfilling single life than actively pursuing romantic relationships – a “freemale” is a professional woman who is single and genuinely loves it – like me...

“Ha Ha – so  “freemale” seems to be the feminine version of “Free Male...?

“That sounds a bit gender biased – but yes – you can say that a “freemale” is the female counterpart of a “Free Male – just like a “Free Male is a man who does not the burden of marriage – a “freemale” is a woman who does not want the burden of marriage...”

“Tell me – if you did not want the burden of marriage – why did you give a ‘Matrimonial Ad’…? And – why are you coming to my home with your parents to “see” me as a prospective husband…?”

“The same reason as yours…”

“Parental pressure…?”

“Yes…?”

“Oh…”

“Let’s do one thing…”

“What…?”

“Let’s get married…”

“What…?”

“Yes. Let’s get married. Once we get married – our parents will be happy – and – they will stop pestering us – and – we can focus on our careers and live our lives freely as we want to…”

“You mean just a “paper” marriage…”

“Yes – a “technical” marriage – a marriage for the sake of marriage – so that we can get this “marriage issue” out of the way – and – we can get on with our respective careers and continue living as we are doing now – as a “Free Male and a “freemale…”

“You mean – we get “married” – and then – you go your way – and – I go my way…”

“Yes…” she said.

“Okay…” he said.

And so – they got married.

The “Free Male and the “freemale” got married.

Yes – the boy and the girl – the two persons who did not believe in marriage – they got married.

EPILOGUE

The story I narrated above happened in early 1982.

And – believe it or not – more than 35 years have passed – and – they are still married.

In these 35 years – many other marriages have broken down.

Even a few so-called “love marriages” have ended in divorce.

But – the marriage of these two persons who did not believe in marriage – this marriage continues to this day.

Yes – the marriage of the “Free Male and the “freemale is still going strong.
