Blog Fiction Story No. 20 - RELATIONSHIP STATUS

RELATIONSHIP STATUS
Short Fiction – A Love Story
By
VIKRAM KARVE

Is my boyfriend two-timing me?

Is he seeing someone else?

Am I seeing subtle tell-tale signs or am I imagining things?

I want to be sure, remove all doubts.

So this is what I do.

I switch on my laptop.

I look at the shortcuts to all the browsers I have – Chrome, Firefox, Explorer.

I click on Chrome, and I open my Facebook Page.

On Firefox, I open my boyfriend’s Facebook Page.

(of course I know his password – don’t ask me how I found out, he is my boyfriend after all, isn’t he?)

On his Facebook Timeline it says that he is in a “Relationship”.

I edit his relationship status.

I change his relationship status to “Engaged”.

Then, in the box below, I type my name.

In the share box, I click “public”.

I save my changes.

Then I go to my Facebook Page and confirm the new relationship status.

Then I repeat the same process on my Facebook Timeline and go to my boyfriend’s facebook page and confirm.

Here too I make the relationship status as “public” and save the changes.

Now my boyfriend is “engaged” to me, and I am “engaged” to him.

Yes, at least on Facebook, my boyfriend and I are engaged. And in today’s world, everyone is on Facebook.

Then I go to my Timeline and click “Life Event”.

I click on “Family and Relationships”, then “Engagement” and in the “Got Engaged to” I fill in my boyfriend’s name and today’s date.

Then I choose “Public” and update my status for the whole world to know.

I go to my boyfriend’s timeline and do a similar life event status update, proclaiming that he is engaged to me.

Now the whole world will know that my boyfriend and I are “engaged”.

That should remove all doubts and keep away those females who have an eye on my boyfriend.

Hey, I can already see notifications of congratulations pouring in fast.

Now I wait for my boyfriend’s call.
